Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2nd October 2026

1. About this policy

The Trustee for the Green Incentives Trust trading as GI Energy (ABN 69 712 051 376) (“GI Energy”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

This policy explains the personal information we collect and hold, why we handle it, who we may disclose it to, and how you can request access or correction or make a privacy complaint.

It applies to our websites, landing pages, forms, surveys, calls, messages, consultations, quotations, installations, customer support and other dealings with you.

2. Personal information we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • your name, property address, email address and telephone number;
  • home-ownership and property information;
  • electricity bills, energy use, tariffs and meter information;
  • details about existing solar, battery and electrical equipment;
  • information about your roof, switchboard, installation site, backup needs and planned future loads;
  • appointment, consultation, quotation, contract, payment, installation, warranty and support information;
  • records of communications with us, which may include call recordings;
  • marketing preferences, consent and unsubscribe records;
  • website, device, browser, cookie, analytics and advertising-attribution information; and
  • information reasonably required to verify identity, investigate a complaint, prevent fraud, meet legal obligations or protect our systems and customers.

We generally do not seek sensitive information. If sensitive information is reasonably necessary for a particular purpose, we will handle it in accordance with applicable law.

3. How we collect personal information

We usually collect personal information directly from you when you:

  • submit a form or survey;
  • request an assessment or quotation;
  • communicate with GI Energy;
  • enter into an agreement with us; or
  • receive installation, warranty or support services.

We may also receive relevant information from:

  • an authorised household member;
  • a referral partner;
  • an electricity retailer;
  • a finance broker or lender;
  • an installer or contractor;
  • an advertising platform; or
  • another organisation involved in providing the service you requested.

Where reasonably practicable, we collect personal information directly from you.

4. Calls and communications

Sales and support calls may be recorded for service delivery, training, quality assurance, dispute resolution, security and record-keeping.

We take reasonable steps to notify callers when recording applies and handle recordings only for legitimate business and legal purposes.

If you submit an enquiry, you ask GI Energy to contact you by phone, SMS and email about that enquiry, including to arrange an appointment and prepare a proposal.

Where we send commercial electronic marketing, we identify GI Energy and provide a functional way to unsubscribe. Withdrawing marketing consent does not prevent necessary service, appointment, contract, installation, safety, warranty or support communications.

5. Why we handle personal information

We may collect, use and disclose personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and arrange an assessment or appointment;
  • prepare a tailored solar, battery, backup or energy proposal;
  • assess technical, network, metering, retailer, finance and installation requirements;
  • manage contracts, payments, installation, commissioning, warranties and aftercare;
  • provide customer service and respond to faults, complaints and disputes;
  • send service communications and, where permitted, marketing communications;
  • measure advertising and landing-page performance, reconcile enquiries and prevent duplicate counting;
  • maintain security and prevent misuse or fraud;
  • comply with legal and regulatory obligations;
  • manage legal claims; and
  • improve our services and business operations.

We do not sell personal information.

6. Who we may disclose information to

Where reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, we may disclose personal information to:

  • GI Energy employees, sales consultants and authorised contractors;
  • installation, inspection, electrical, solar, battery and support providers;
  • customer relationship management, communications, document, cloud, payment and accounting providers, including PipeReply/HighLevel and Zoho;
  • finance brokers and lenders where you ask to explore finance;
  • electricity retailers, network operators or metering participants where relevant;
  • Google, Meta and other analytics or advertising providers, subject to the applicable tracking configuration and choices;
  • professional advisers, insurers, auditors and dispute-resolution providers; and
  • government, regulatory, law-enforcement or other parties where required or authorised by law.

We take reasonable steps to require service providers to protect personal information and use it only for authorised purposes.

7. Overseas handling

Some technology, communications, analytics, advertising and cloud providers operate globally and may process or store personal information outside Australia.

The countries involved can vary according to the provider, service, account configuration, support arrangement and the location from which the service is delivered.

Where required, GI Energy takes reasonable steps in relation to overseas disclosures and the handling of personal information by service providers.

8. Cookies, analytics and advertising technology

Our websites and campaign pages may use cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies to:

  • operate the website;
  • remember preferences;
  • understand visits and form journeys;
  • measure advertising; and
  • improve our services.

These technologies may collect device and browser information, IP address, page views, referral source, advertising identifiers and interaction data.

Available browser, platform and website controls may allow you to restrict some tracking.

GI Energy does not treat an advertising platform’s event label as proof of a verified sales enquiry unless the event is reconciled to a qualifying enquiry received by GI Energy.

9. Storage, security and retention

We hold personal information in electronic systems and, where required, physical records.

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected or as required or permitted by law.

Retention can also be affected by an active service, contract, warranty, complaint, dispute, insurance matter, legal claim, tax obligation or record-keeping requirement.

When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it, subject to lawful exceptions. We may retain a minimal suppression record to honour an unsubscribe or do-not-contact request.

You may ask us to delete information. We will consider the request and explain where information must or may be retained.

10. Access and correction

You may ask for access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.

We may need to verify your identity before responding.

We may refuse or limit a request where permitted by law. If that happens, we will explain the reason unless the law prevents us from doing so.

11. Privacy complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us with details of your concern.

We will acknowledge and investigate your complaint and respond within a reasonable period.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

12. Links and third-party services

Third-party websites and services have their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices, providers, services or legal obligations change.

The current version and effective date will be published on our website.
